Transition Season, Rain Likely to Happen on Day Afternoon

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Indonesia is currently entering a period of transition or the transition from the dry to the rainy season. At this time, the rain tends to take place from noon to evening.

Mulyono Prabowo, Head of Public Meteorology, Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG) explains, the tendency was due to the pattern of warming sun.



"In the morning, the hot sun tends to spur the formation of clouds, then a new cloud gathered during the day. So, new rain occurred noon until late afternoon," said Mulyono.

According Mulyono, rainy season in the transition period can be heavy, but tend to be of short duration.

"into the evening, the weather can be sunny or cloudy again," said Mulyono when contacted Kompas.com, Tuesday (10/29/2013).



Tendency to rain during the afternoon it does not apply in all areas, but in areas that already entered the transition period of the season.

He also said the trend could last for the next week in areas that have entered the season of transition.

Already entered the transition area, said Mulyono, is the north western parts of Indonesia and Java.

Based on the estimated BMKG, parts of Indonesia has experienced a lot of rain is Aceh, Medan, Lampung and west Java .



"The area of central and eastern Java has not been much rain. Central and eastern Indonesia, too," he said.

Mulyono explained, the rainy season entering Indonesian territory gradually, starting from the west.

Although some parts of Indonesia has been experiencing rain, but it can not be said to have entered the rainy season.



One of the criteria is the rainy season , rainfall reached 50 mm in 10 days in a row.
